THE SPOKESMAN OF THE 10TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, YEMI ADARAMODU STATED THIS WHILE SPEAKING TO NEWSMEN AT HIS COUNTRY HOME IN ILAWE EKITI RECENTLY, NOTING THAT THE SENATE CANNOT RECOMMEND THE CREATION OF ADDITIONAL STATES AT THE MOMENT.
WHILE HE SAID NONE OF THE PROPOSALS HAVE PASSED THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS, HE ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THE SENATE HAS NO CONSTITUTIONAL POWER TO UNILATERALLY CREATE STATES, DESCRIBING THE PROCESS AS ONE THAT REQUIRES “AUDITING DEMOGRAPHIC, GEOGRAPHIC AND HISTORICAL DATA.
