THE NIGERIAN ASSOCIATION OF RESIDENT DOCTORS HAS GIVEN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT A FRESH 24-HOUR ULTIMATUM TO MEET ITS OUTSTANDING DEMANDS AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF AN EARLIER 10-DAY DEADLINE ON SEPTEMBER 10.
THE DECISION WAS REACHED AFTER A SIX-HOUR VIRTUAL MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATION’S NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HELD RECENTLY.
NARD PRESIDENT, DR. TOPE OSUNDARA, NOTED THAT WHILE THE GOVERNMENT HAD PROMISED TO ADDRESS THEIR CONCERNS, THE UNION WAS INSISTING ON IMMEDIATE IMPLEMENTATION. IN A COMMUNIQUÉ SIGNED BY ITS TOP EXECUTIVES, THE DOCTORS DEMANDED PROMPT PAYMENT OF THE 2025 MEDICAL RESIDENCY TRAINING FUND, SETTLEMENT OF FIVE MONTHS’ ARREARS FROM THE CONSOLIDATED MEDICAL SALARY STRUCTURE REVIEW, AND CLEARANCE OF OTHER OUTSTANDING SALARY BACKLOGS.
