PRESIDENT TINUBU PAY TRIBUTE TO LATE VETERAN JOURNALIST

PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU HAS COMMISERATED WITH THE FAMILIES OF THE LATE VETERAN JOURNALIST AND FORMER MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE CONCORD GROUP OF NEWSPAPERS, DR DOYINSOLA HAMIDAT ABIOLA WHO DIED AT THE AGE OF 82

WHILE EXPRESSING HIS CONDOLENCES IN A STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE STATE HOUSE TODAY, TINUBU HAILED THE LATE MEDIA EXECUTIVE FOR BREAKING GENDER BARRIERS IN THE PROFESSION AND CONTRIBUTING SIGNIFICANTLY TO JOURNALISM, DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE, AND WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT.

RECOUNTING HER ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT IN THE POLITICAL STRUGGLES THAT FOLLOWED THE ANNULMENT OF THE JUNE 12 ELECTION, WHICH WAS WON BY HER LATE HUSBAND, CHIEF MKO ABIOLA, THE NUMBER ONE CITIZEN DESCRIBED DR ABIOLA AS A “TRAILBLAZER JOURNALIST” AND A “SOLDIER OF DEMOCRACY.”

EARLIER THIS MORNING, ONE OF THE SONS OF THE LATE MKO ABIOLA, JAMIU, CONFIRMED HER PASSING TO NEWSMEN, SAYING SHE DIED LASTNIGHT.
