EKTI LAUNCHES HARVESTING HOPE CARAVAN, SIGNS INSURANCE POLICY FOR FARMERS

AS PART OF PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU’S RENEWED HOPE AGENDA ON FOOD SECURITY, EKITI STATE GOVERNOR, BIODUN OYEBANJI, HAS LAUNCHED THE HARVESTING HOPE CARAVAN IN ADO-EKITI WHILE ALSO SIGNING AN INSURANCE POLICY DESIGNED TO PROTECT FARMERS AGAINST NATURAL DISASTERS AND STRENGTHEN FOOD PRODUCTION.

THE GOVERNOR, WHO WAS HONOURED AS A CHAMPION OF THE NATIONAL AGRIBUSINESS POLICY MECHANISM IN THE SOUTHWEST, COMMENDED PRESIDENT TINUBU FOR HIS INITIATIVES ON FOOD SECURITY AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, PLEDGING THAT EKITI STATE WOULD ALIGN ITS AGRICULTURAL POLICIES WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S VISION.

HE EXPLAINED THAT THE HARVESTING HOPE CARAVAN WOULD SERVE AS A GRASSROOTS PLATFORM TO ENGAGE STAKEHOLDERS, BUILD PARTNERSHIPS, AND HARMONIZE NATIONAL AND STATE-LEVEL AGRICULTURAL INTERVENTIONS.

OYEBANJI HIGHLIGHTED THAT HIS ADMINISTRATION HAD CLEARED OVER 4,800 HECTARES OF LAND, DISTRIBUTED FERTILIZERS, AND PROVIDED SUBSIDIES ON TRACTORIZATION, AGRO-CHEMICALS, AND SEEDLINGS TO SUPPORT FARMERS. SPEAKING AT THE EVENT, THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF THE PRESIDENTIAL FOOD SECURITY COORDINATING UNIT, MS MARION MOON, REAFFIRMED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S COMMITMENT TO WORK WITH STATES TO BUILD A SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEM, WHILE EKITI’S AGRICULTURE COMMISSIONER, EBENEZERBOLUWADE, PRAISED THE GOVERNOR FOR SECURING INSURANCE COVER THAT WILL SAFEGUARD FARMERS AGAINST UNFORESEEN RISKS.
