THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT RAISED THIS ALARM IN AN ALERT ISSUED AND SIGNED BY THE DIRECTOR OF THE EROSION, FLOOD AND COASTAL ZONE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT, USMAN BOKANI.
THE RAISED ALARM COMES JUST AS THE COUNTRY GRAPPLES WITH THE DUAL CHALLENGE OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND INADEQUATE DRAINAGE INFRASTRUCTURE, MAKING MANY COMMUNITIES VULNERABLE DURING THE RAINY SEASON.
THE PREDICTION AFFECTS 43 LOCATIONS ACROSS 14 STATES INCLUDING AFIKPO IN EBONYI STATE, GWARZO AND KARAYE, KANO STATE, EZIAMA AND UMUAHIA; ABIA STATE, KAFANCHA, KADUNA AND ORON IN AKWA IBOM STATE AMONG OTHERS.
