FG IMPLEMENTS HEALTH WORKERS POLICY; UNVEIL HOUSING SCHEME

AS PART OF THE NEWLY IMPLEMENTED NATIONAL POLICY ON HEALTH WORKFORCE MIGRATION, THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS LAUNCHED A HOUSING SCHEME FOR HEALTHCARE WORKERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

WHILE DISCLOSING THE DEVELOPMENT, COORDINATING MINISTER OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE, PROFESSOR ALI PATE NOTED THAT THE POLICY WAS A STRATEGY TO REVERSE THE MIGRATION OF HEALTHCARE WORKERS.

PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU HAD APPROVED THE POLICY IN 2024, TO ADDRESS THE CHALLENGES FACING NIGERIA’S HEALTHCARE HUMAN RESOURCES.

THE POLICY’S TAKEAWAYS INCLUDE SPECIAL INCENTIVES FOR ALL HEALTHCARE WORKFORCE SERVING IN RURAL AREAS; SPECIAL MORTGAGE FACILITIES FOR HEALTHCARE WORKERS TO EASILY OWN ESSENTIAL ASSETS; AND A PERIODICAL REVIEW OF HEALTHCARE WORKERS’ SALARIES, BENEFITS, PENSIONS, AND ALLOWANCES.
