11 KIDNAP VICTIMS REGAIN FREEDOM IN BORNO AFTER ISWAP ABDUCTION

ELEVEN PERSONS ABDUCTED BY SUSPECTED ISLAMIC STATE OF THE WEST AFRICAN PROVINCE (ISWAP) FIGHTERS IN KINNARI VILLAGE, DAMASAK, BORNO STATE, HAVE BEEN RELEASED.

SECURITY ANALYST ZAGAZOLA MAKAMA DISCLOSED THEIR RELEASE IN A POST ON X TODAY, NOTING THAT THE VICTIMS HAD BEEN TAKEN BY ARMED INSURGENTS ON JULY 31.

AMONG THE FREED VICTIMS WAS A 40-YEAR-OLD MAN, TELA BAMARI, WITH THEIR RELEASE CONFIRMED TO HAVE OCCURRED AFTER DISCREET NEGOTIATIONS.

SOURCES SAID LOCAL COMMUNITY LEADERS AND HUMANITARIAN WORKERS PLAYED KEY ROLES IN SECURING THEIR FREEDOM, ALTHOUGH IT REMAINS UNKNOWN WHETHER ANY RANSOM WAS PAID.

AFTER UNDERGOING MEDICAL CHECKS, THE VICTIMS WERE REUNITED WITH THEIR FAMILIES, AND WERE OFFICIALLY RECEIVED BY THE BORNO STATE COMMITTEE FOR VICTIMS OF TERRORISM.
